The Beatles were a pop group that took the world by storm. Their music, clothing, and hairstyles changed the world of the young. They made their first single in 1962, their first album in 1963, their last record in 1969, and broke up in 1970.
Even though the Beatles became famous in 1963, they started playing in Liverpool (where they grew up) in the late 50's, when they were called the Quarrymen. The main line-up in 1958 was John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison, all playing guitars. Lennon started the Quarrymen in 1957 after being impressed by Elvis Presley's "Heartbreak Hotel". He invited McCartney to join in October of that year. Harrison joined in 1958. John's friend from art college, Stuart Sutcliffe and drummer Pete Best joined in 1960.
It was also in 1960 that the Quarrymen (now called the Sliver Beatles) toured Scotland. They changed their name again to the Beatles, and toured Hamburg, Germany. It was here that Stuart met his girlfriend, Astrid Kirrrrcherr. Astrid had influence on the Beatles, such as their famous mop-top hairstyles and their collarless suits. The hairstyle was created when Astrid brushed Stuart's hair from the side with bangs in the front. She did this because she didn't like Stuart's teddy-boy hairstyle. When the other Beatles saw Stuart's new hairstyle, they fell over laughing. But a few days later, George tried the new style, and eventually John and Paul. Pete was the only one that declined. Astrid made a collarless suit for Sutart, and she also made one for the other Beatles, but the seams popped when they sat down.

When the Beatles came home from Hamburg, Stuart stayed behind with Astrid. Sadly, he died of a brain hemorrhage in 1962.The same year, Pate Best was kicked out of the group and Ringo Starr replaced him. Also, that year, they signed a recording contract with producer George Martin and made their first record, "Love Me Do".
In 1963, the Beatles had their first number one: "Please Please Me". They toured all over England and also made their first foreign tour in Sweden in October of that year. They played for the royal family at the Prince of Wales Theatre on November 4, 1963. Also, in November 1963, they were becoming popular in America, which they had been trying to do for months.
On February 7, 1964, the Beatles' plane touched down at Kennedy International Airpart. Two days later, they made television history. Seventy-three million people watched the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Sho, the record for largest viewing audience in America. On February 12, they performed at the Washington Coliseum. That year, they made their first movie, A Hard Day's Night. The Beatles did their first world tour. People showed their love for the \Beatles by buying records, clothing, posters, and other merchandise to do with the Beatles. The fans also showed their love by screaming at concerts, when they landed at airports, and wherever else they went. Boys copied their hairstyles and their clothing. This craze was called "Beatlemania". Motivational thinking, creative direction, artistic interpretation, image making, innovational idealism, educationally sharing, inspirationally caring, photographically artistic..sheer genius
Anthony Mascolo has been at the forefront of global hairdressing for the past 30 years, since he first participated in photo shoots and hair shows as a teenager, who showed extraordinary talent.
He is an incredible image-maker, as renowned for his photography as he is for his hairstyles. He is also a charismatic personality with a totally creative mind that has made him an inspiration to hairdressers across the globe.
Just over two years ago, Anthony took, what many people thought was an extraordinary step, when he changed his direction and his role, becoming International Creative Director of TIGI haircare.
The challenge of developing TIGI haircare into a fashionable, edgy, product company has motivated Anthony to new levels. He has opened his own photographic and creative centre, Bed Head Studios, in Battersea, South London which has become the hub of creativity for the Company.

Together with his wife, Pat, a superb makeup artist, Anthony is concentrating on helping other hairdressers achieve their creative potential, working with them on image development, film, graphic ideas and promotional activities -as well as developing their businesses.
He has vision and an unusual approach to both business and creativity which excites all who work with him.
During the last eighteen months Anthony has developed a team of experienced and artistic hairdressers. The TIGI International Creative Team has already appeared on stage across Europe and the USA and is fast gaining a reputation for its exciting interpretation of contemporary fashion.
The team is much in demand at all the major global hairdressing events and is working with hairdressers around the world, helping them develop their retailing, marketing and image skills. As TIGI haircare goes from strength to strength, the International Creative Team has developed a strong education programme and has launched its first educational collection,
Freestyle.
TIGI haircare, encompassing Bed Head and Catwalk, therefore signifies much more than merely a way to maintain your hair! Behind the funky packaging, is a whole scheme of inspirational ideas that give the hairdressers using and retailing the products, the know-how to create great hairstyles - using great products - that ultimately inspire their clients too!
In fact clients are ultimately Anthony's main focus. Always a commercial hairdresser, he has developed imagery that gives a simplistic message: "how to get the look". This strapline has worked well on TIGI's international advertising campaigns over the past year, multiplying the brand awareness of the product.
Anthony's goal is to take TIGI haircare to the mainstream public, create a truly recognisable global brand and make TIGI haircare a world recognised fashion statement. How will he achieve this - it's down to sheer genius!Men of fashion began to wear short and more natural hair at the end of the 18th century, sporting cropped curls and long sideburns in a classical manner much like  Grecian warriors and Roman senators. Before this period, a balding Louis XIII had made powdered wigs popular at the French court and consequently throughout Europe. The often elaborate and expensive gray wigs lent an air of wisdom and authority to their wearers.
A scarcity of flour in 1795, combined with William Pitt’s attempt to raise revenue through a hair powder tax, brought the fashion for wigs and powder to a screeching halt. Men protested and a new more natural hair style became fashionable.
The Bedford Crop was a style of hair favored by the Duke of Bedford, who, in protest to the tax, abandoned his wigs in favor of a short cropped and unpowdered hairstyle. He challenged his friends to do the same.  His natural looking crop was parted on the side with a dab of hair wax.
Pitt eventually reduced this unpopular tax on hair powder, which never quite generated the revenue he predicted, but by then it was too late. Gentlemen had discovered the comforts of going au naturel, and by 1812, few men still wore wigs. There were some holdovers – older men, military officers, and those in conservative professions such as lawyers, judges, physicians, and some servants for the very rich (footmen and coachmen) retained their wigs and powder. Formal court dress also still required powdered hair.
