Tease it. Curl it. Straighten it.
Make it shine, make it bounce.
Shellac it with spray into a virtual sculpture.
Hair is what you make it – and Nicolas Jurnjack has made it all.
Styles may change, but what he brings is more than style – it’s art. In the high fashion hair game for more than 20 years, Jurnjack has had his hands on all the great manes that have graced the pages of the world’s most well-known fashion magazines the pages of the world’s most well-known fashion magazines.
Born in Marseille in the South of France, Jurnjack landed his first styling opportunity – with French ELLE no less, which ignited a passion to learn, and launched an extensive career. Jurnjack relocated to a tiny basement flat in Paris and surrounded himself with magazine clippings and plastic heads. (A striking visual, no?). The result of all this private work was a vision and style that was uniquely his own, which landed him 350+ covers – 100+ of which have been for Vogue.
Talent like this is not for 2D alone. Designers have put their runway models’ heads in Jurnjack’s hands. The freedom of working for such stunning talent gave Jurnjack the platform for some of his most iconic and memorable looks: from hair styled into bird cages, with live birds, to abstract expressionism for a McQueen show, to the elaborate- minimalism of Japanese Geisha hair for Givenchy. These looks and more for Prêt-à-Porter and Haute Couture lines have been broadcast around the world during Fashion Week in Paris, Milan, New York, Tokyo, London, Sao Paulo and Berlin. His work has been internationally recognized, nominated and awarded many prizes. Hell! his work has been hung in the Louvre Museum for the International Festival of Fashion.
And now? Talent like this is no longer for the elite alone. Two decades of experience at the top of his profession have given Jurnjack the desire to share his knowledge and expertise with a wider audience. From the very start, he’s had a passion for products – from bottle design to styling innovations – and as his career has proven, when Jurnjack has a passion, there’s no stopping him.Lea Michele is an American actress and singer who is best known for her role as Rachel Berry in the hit musical comedy series, Glee. She was born in The Bronx, New York, to an Italian mother and a Jewish father. She grew up in New Jersey, kick-starting her career as a child actor in the hit Broadway musical, Les Misérables (1995). She went on to star in several hit Broadway musicals, including Ragtime (1998), Fiddler on the Roof (2004) and Spring Awakening (2006). She left Spring Awakening in 2008 to join the Broadway production of Nero instead. But it wasn't until 2009, when the first episode of FOX musical comedy Glee aired that she got her big on-screen break. For her part in the show - which went on to be one of the most-watched series in the world - she won a Screen Actors Guild award and a Satellite award, as well as receiving nominations for an Emmy, a Teen Choice award and a Golden Globe. Her cover of All American Reject's Gives You Hell went in at No.1 on the Irish charts, and made the Billboard Top 40 in the USA. In 2010, Lea was included in Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People In The World, while lads mag title FHM placed her at No.7 in its sexiest female listing. During the same year, she also joined the cast of the animated movie Dorothy of Oz, and starred in rom-com New Year's Eve. Lea has been romantically linked to stage actor Theo Stockman and dated her Glee co-star Cory Monteith until his untimely death from a drug overdose in July 2013.I am a hairstylist that specializes in all phases of hairstyling with over 35 years of experience. I currently am owner/operator of a salon called Salon Glam, in Novato, California, 30 miles North of San Francisco. Several years ago I became interested in the roots of my profession and researched the history of hairdressing. This quest became a full time adventure and turned into a wonderful and rewarding passion.
I have been interviewed on the history of hair by People.com, The LA Times, California Stylist Magazine, Argus Courier, Independent Journal and Modern Salon Magazine. I had a guest appearance on a television show called Evening Magazine in San Francisco. I recently re-created a Madam de Pompadour hairstyle, along with a talk on the history of the word "hairdresser". I self published a cookbook called Beauty and the Feast, with recipes collected from beauty salon clients. Instead of food pictures, the book has photos and stories about the history of hairstyling. My "Marie Antoinette" hairstyles have been published in hairstyling magazines and I have received honorable mention 3 times in the annual California Stylist cover contest.
Most recently I completed a 60 minute video called Bridal Styles Made Simple. It includes the history of hairstyling and easy techniques to create modern up do styles. It is for sale on Hairrific.com and several wedding websites. Cosmetology schools are including it in their freshman kits as an instructional manual. I have also been a guest speaker at many local cosmetology schools. The history of hair truly is one of my passions.

In 2004, I co-produced and narrated a film bringing awareness to the organization Locks of Love. This foundation is located in Florida and makes wigs for children with baldness conditions from donated hair. This film is being played on the local community access stations and Locks of Love is using it for promotional purposes. A wonderful foundation and it was an honor to help bring a smile to those children's faces.
My formal education in cosmetology started in 1969 at Marinello Beauty College in San Rafael, California. I am a graduate of the Vidal Sassoon Academy in San Francisco and a two-time graduate of the Redken Exchange in New York City. I have studied with the renowned "up-do" artist Martin Parsons from Toronto, Canada. I also took stage and theatrical makeup at College of Marin in Kentfield, California, and love to do fantasy looks. Continuing education is a constant venture with me since my profession changes each year with the seasons.
Like most hairstylists, the majority of my work has been standing behind the chair and creating new looks and images for my loyal and glorious clientele. However, my love and desire to learn the history of hair has given me a career and a hobby.
On a personal level, I am married with two grown boys. My hobbies include photography, cartooning and horseback riding. I am a member of the California Horseman's Association and ride my horse in parade competitions. My horse and I have opened the Grand National Rodeo twice carrying the American flag. When I am not doing hair related things, you can bet I am on my horse!
